"What Equipment Should I Buy?"

%22What Equipment Should I Buy?%22.001.jpeg

You're on your laptop…

Or phone….

Or tablet and wondering, “What equipment should I buy?”

You’re very busy and want to get in shape. Fast.

Simple but fast.

I hear you.

But a lot of times you’re thinking about the wrong “stuff”.

I've done this for years and I don’t want you to repeat your own mistakes.

Let me explain...

I always ask myself, “why?”

Search google, youtube or amazon and you could find amazing equipment for awesome exercises for every part of your body.

Dumbbell.

Medicine ball.

Stability ball.

Bosu.

Plates.

Battle ropes.

Resistance band.

Rings.

Jump ropes.

Stairs.

Track.

Bench.

Rower.

Treadmill.

TRX.

Here’s the thing…

It really doesn’t matter what kind of equipment you buy.

I’m dead serious.

All of the top trainers/coaches are creative and have such mastery that each one of those equipment can be used for each part of your body.

I’ve seen it.

I have done it.

I even went through a lot of classes, boot camps and 1:1 sessions.

Some rooms are massive and have a lot of equipment that I honestly don’t know what it is used for.

At this point…

The mirages always got me.

As a beginner trainer/coach, I wanted to have the best of the best. I was looking for the “new” stuff.

New equipment.

New gear.

New everything!

I was dumb.

I wanted “it” so current, past and new students or people walking by and watching would think…

“Wow!”

“That looks amazing.”

“It’s interesting.”

“I definitely want to try that.”

I was so obsessed with it.

I’m not the best trainer/coach but I thought that if I had amazing equipment and gear… then maybeeeeeeee I would be a lot better.

Looking back…

I was clearly delusional.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS BLOG…

IS TO TELL YOU THAT WHATEVER TYPE OF EQUIPMENT OR CLASSES YOU BUY…

IT…

IS...

NOT…

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!

We…

Yes “we”, including myself…

We sometimes over complicate things.

(I know you’re busy but in the future, I’m looking for YOU)

Basic equation...

Input >> Process >> Outcome.

The input is you (now).

The outcome (results) is you getting fit. Physically. Mentally. Emotionally.

The process in the tools (equipment and gear) that will get you there.

My 3 idols, who trained me in everything, were inventive and novel.

They would make a small room with no equipment and no music, light up like a Drake or Jay-z concert.

They understand how our body and mind work and can figure everything out. It’s weird.

From no equipment but…

Training professional athletes or a woman who is pregnant.

To...

Equipment that you don’t know what it’s used for.

“YEAH, YEAH, YEAH! WE GET IT ARTHUR! WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT “STUFF” YOU TOLD US ABOUT…”

Ok.

The most important “stuff”...

You got it.

Everything you need is already inside you.

For your outcome…

(Input >> Process >> Outcome)

Unless you have taste, experience or personality…

THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN BUY PHYSICALLY THAT WILL GET YOU TO YOUR DESIRED DESTINATION.

Nothing.

Not material.

It’s a small adjustment for your big results.

The “stuff” is your...

Heart.

Whatever you buy equipment or classes...

I know one thing you probably don’t know.

O.

B.

S.

T.

A.

C.

L.

E.

S.

Obstacles.

In your journey…

No matter how detailed your health and fitness plan is, life is going to change quickly.

Transformation takes work.

There will be ups and downs but love (heart) can overcome any obstacles.

Maybe you like or don’t like the work or exercises…

But you are addicted to the results (outcome).

You can hear your results.

You can feel your results.

You can smell your results.

You can even taste your results.

Your love is profound and it’s a small adjustment but it makes a world of a difference.

One of my students didn’t have a gym but she would have loved to reach her goals. We overcame this but having her use her pool and personalized the program.

Another one of my students didn’t feel comfortable enough to use a gym by herself so I told her to use the grass near her.

They didn’t understand it…

But once I told them to do the homework sheets, their mind grasped the journey that it doesn’t matter what kind of equipment or if there is anyone equipment…

We’re here for your outcome and love for your body and mind.

WHATEVER EQUIPMENT YOU BUY…

There are 2 things I want you to keep in mind...

1. Commitment. Actually start and write it on your calendar.

2. Consistency: Don’t give up and not use it in 2 or 3 weeks. Don’t listen to what people will tell you… sometimes, simple bodyweight exercises are all you need. Consistency is the key.

But remember what I already said…

If you have taste, experience or personality…

Ignore what I wrote.

After a while...

If you don’t truly “like” it…

Love really reveals true character and true priorities. It’s all worth it if you put that end goal in mind.

That’s what love does.

A lot of my students said that without love for your goals, they wouldn't have achieved anything.

Michael Jordan said, “When you have love for anything, you will go to extreme lengths to maintain that love. Love drives you for anything to maintain that connection. Love kept me pushing. To make you come and hurdle all the obstacles that will be thrown at me.”

Love destroys and demolishes obstacles.

The title of this blog probably doesn’t make sense now but you can search youtube and easily get bodyweight exercises. Whatever you do...

Use your heart to get through everything.
