"What Equipment Should I Buy?" - Part Two

It’s laughable and I’m sorry.

Novice and expert trainers/coaches would look at this video and shake their heads.

“Clearly he doesn’t know what a bench is used for.”

I get it.

It’s where you sit, rest and take breaks or execute a bench press.

You have a profound question.

“What apps?”

“What gadgets, tactics and tools?”

“What stuff are they doing?”

“What equipment should I buy?”

I have a simple answer.

I’m sorry because the solution is a lot simpler than you think. You get bored from the subtleties teachers, coaches and mentors use. The acrobatic, mission impossible, cirque du soleil moves, wows you (including myself). However, once you have a solid foundation, the “unreal shit” is a piece of cake.

You.

Have.

Everything.

In.

Side.

Of.

You.

Everything.

Here’s why.

You’re thinking I’m going to tell you what type of equipment you should buy.

That’s good.

Now you’re thinking about a better life and how you can get there.

A seasoned trainer/coach will adjust and adapt the program for whatever type of equipment you have for your particular body part or well being.

Your question is great.

But you’re asking the wrong question.

Maybe it's social media.

We (including myself) try to over complicate things.

The equipment is not the issue.

My idols can easily do 50 exercises on a bench, in more depth than I could have dreamt of.

In the morning I planned every detail my students would perform at our sessions. The problem is another trainer/coach would have his or her student doing the exercise on the equipment I needed at the time. When I was a beginner, in my mind I always say, “Fuck!” I’m sweating inside, my master plan disappears and I don’t know what to do.

Now I've been through a lot and because I wanted to respect their time...

I was forced to cultivate the right side of my brain: imagination and holistic thinking. I see things differently and I hope you can too. Misfortune becomes an immense source of creativity.

Maybe you believe that magic is the specific type of equipment you have. I don’t want you to be frozen in time and in full regret. To be honest, I was constantly shopping for “new” equipment, “new” tools, “new” gadgets and “new” tactics. Yes, it’s fundamentally important. However, I was aiming for the wrong thing.

My simple answer is: “Why?”

Once you fully understand and commit to “why are you doing it?”every type of equipment will get you there. To optimize the body, soul and mind you want, all you need is self awareness, guidance, and consistency.

To get the full noise, please read “What Equipment Should I Buy?” - Part One. The bench was a way for you to think differently about the “things” that could assist you.

I hope this helps.
